How Every Kid Swims raised over $10,000 during their first BiddingForGood online auction.
Every Kid Swims is a nonprofit organization located in Daytona Beach, Florida. Their mission is to leverage therapeutic water-based activities to help foster and at-risk youth develop healthy mental health habits.
“Our journey has been one of perseverance,” said. DeBora Stewart from Every Kid Swims. The organization used to rely on word-of-mouth and local donations to raise funds. And every year they hosted an in-person First Responders dinner with a silent auction with items from local businesses and artists.
In-person swimming lessons shut down during the pandemic, but their children needed them more than ever. Every Kid Swims created a virtual youth group where children could journal and focus on their wellbeing. Stewart explains “The kids couldn't get out, but we knew that the mental health portion of their little lives and even our lives as adults was important to tap into. So, when we did Zoom sessions with youth, we would call it the ‘Youth Advisory Team’.”
To help raise funds during the pandemic, Every Kids Swim pivoted to their first-ever online auction on BiddingForGood in 2021. By reaching out to BiddingForGood’s 1.7 million registered bidder community, Every Kid Swims was able to expand their fundraising efforts and reach larger audiences. They continued to auction items from local businesses and artists within their community and raised over $10,000 with their first BiddingForGood online auction!
Every Kid Swims had to adapt to this ever-changing world. With the help of BiddingForGood, the bidder community, and local sponsorships, Every Kid Swims increased donations, reached new supporters, and expanded its donor base. Every Kid Swims plans to expand their mission to over 35+ cities across the United States.
