Founded in the memory of a cancer research hero, The Terry Fox Foundation grants over 28 million dollars to cancer research each year.

The Foundation’s two signature events, The Terry Fox Run and The National School Run Day, help to raise money and commemorate the life and legacy of Terry Fox. The National School Run Day involves more than three million students and educators in North America, while the Terry Fox Run attracts hundreds of thousands of participants and donors every September. Terry Fox Runs are always volunteer-led, non-competitive and have no corporate sponsorship, incentives or fundraising minimums.

In 2010, the Terry Fox Foundation set a goal to increase their online presence using websites, social networks and mobile channels. That vision included a decision to move from a custom-developed fundraising platform to Artez. After building a vibrant peer-to-peer fundraising website with FrontStream in 2010, The Terry Fox Foundation increased its online donation volume every year, to an outstanding total of $3,215,977 in 2015 alone!

Online pledges grew about 10% over 2014, thanks to great work from Terry Fox Run organizers as they explained to participants that online giving is more efficient than paper-based pledge sheets.

Terry Fox registrants and volunteers are heartily encouraged to use the event fundraising website, Facebook tools and mobile apps.

 

The 2015 Terry Fox Run featured 26,303 online participants and 2770 fundraising teams!

One of the unique features about participating in The Terry Fox Run is the opportunity to use the Run’s mobile web and mobile app fundraising tools. Organizers discovered that individuals who used mobile tools to ask for donations raised significantly more money than those who only used the website to fundraise. Of course, giving participants a mobile optimized experience for smartphone and tablets is only one part of a multi-channel strategy! The Terry Fox Foundation also reached out to their supporters with helpful online videos and strategic Facebook posts.
